Debunking the Myths of Boudoir Photography
January 14
One of the most meaningful gifts we can give ourselves is to see and appreciate the glorious creature we are – just as we are. One of the most meaningful gifts we can give our loved ones is an inside view of who we truly are, our essence. Photography is a powerful tool. Yet for some of us, a necessary evil. Great photography goes beyond marking a moment; great photography captures the essence, the very heart of a person.
Join us as we welcome Michelle Goldwood to Uplift for an educational workshop Debunking the Myths of Boudoir Photography. Michelle is a professional photographer and owner of Goldwood Studios located in the Stutz Building in Indianapolis, IN. Together with Carla Mackie from Uplift Intimate Apparel, we will be looking at the mechanics of Boudoir photography to include:
* Identifying the why behind the what.
* The importance of what you wear.
* The setting that best suits you.
* Plus answering any and all questions you may have.
We’re excited to debunk the myths and raise awareness of this topic with you.

Tracy’s love of self and skin care began early. “When I was a teenager, my family knew Sunday evenings were my official “Spa Nights”. In 2008, she started Frangipani as a way of offering safer skin care products to people who wanted better options for skin care products.

We’re so excited to have Jane Yip with us this week. Her work through Indian Brain Mapping and Autism Parent Care is amazing and remarkable. We can’t wait for you to meet her and hear what she has to say about mental health.
While we take physical health seriously like eating right and exercising, we seldom think about mental health. You will learn:
- What is mental health and why it’s important to maintain it.
- The steps in maintaining mental health.
- Symptoms indicating help is needed.
- How can we help ourselves.
Jane Yip is a neuroscience graduate from Australia with completed post-doctoral work at Eli Lilly-Indianapolis. She has published peer review articles on several brain disorders including depression, schizophrenia and autism. In addition, she is a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA).

Support Restored and Eliminate Sex Trafficking!
February 20th | 6:30 – 8:00 pm
Restored Inc. provides services, outreach, and education to young girls between the ages of 11-24 whom have been victimized by domestic sex trafficking and sexual exploitation. They work to raise awareness and provide education and advocacy in the hope of ending human sex trafficking throughout Indiana.
It’s a big calling! And we here at Uplift Intimate Apparel want to be part of the solution!
Back in February, we hosted an informational session at Uplift. Tracy McDaniel, Founder & CEO of Restored Inc., spoke about the reality of domestic sex trafficking, online safety and what YOU can do about it! The key word here is YOU – that means ALL OF US! For this event, we asked for donations of Target and Walmart gift cards that could be given to the girls to shop for items that they need. These girls come from environments where there is no power to choose. They have been stripped of all dignity. These gift cards give them the ability to make selections, purchase items they pick. It’s part of the restoration process and so very important.
