Sometimes I wonder about our memory. Have we forgotten that we are a free people? Have we forgotten that we can be the change for good, that we can choose good? I once heard a story from Andy Stanley about an 87-year-old man who talked of living through polio, diphtheria, Vietnam protests and is still enchanted with life. “He seemed surprised when I said that 2020” (and now at least half of 2021) “must be especially challenging for him. ‘No’ he said slowly, looking me straight in the eyes. “I’ve learned a long time ago to not see the world through printed headlines. I see the world through the people that surround me. I see the world with the realization that we love big. Therefore, I just choose to write my own headlines:
- Husband loves wife today.
- Family drops everything to come to Grandma’s bedside.
- Old man makes new friend.”
This story really touched me and I realized that is what we do every day at Uplift. Together, we create our own headlines. Together, we are the change for the many people we touch.
- Woman finds real comfort in her skin – for the first time.
- Woman’s eyes opened to her true worth and beauty behind the curtain.
- New friendships formed daily at Uplift Intimate Apparel.
Our Declaration of Independence says “All men (and today implying women too) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
